Helly everybody!
Before I start I have to say I'm sorry for the late response and the promised journal entry, but I'm very busy at the moment (school, different projects, etc.).
First of all I have to thank all the people who faved and commented my Japan-support-work, I really appreciate that so much!
When I created this I was just thinking "Hey, there's this support project (
fella.deviantart.com/blog/3903…) - why don't take part?" I felt the desaster was really bad and I have been interested in natural desasters and nuclear things for quite a long time. So I created this piece in a couple of hours, but I never expected it would cause such a big reaction and feedback! A few hours after uploading a frined sent me a SMS "Hey, your deviation is becoming famous!" And I was really shocked about it. But this enormous reaction made me think about many things, and these are the results of it:
Many people thanked me for my work and said they were praying for Japan, too.
But others asked, "Why praying? It doesn't help. If you want to help Japan, you have to do other things!"
Yes, you are right with this, the Japanese need helpers and money to rebuild their country. But I want to add, I do think the praying and creating artwork for Japan can help as well - not the way physical help does, but it has a psychological function. People who lost their homes, friends and families recognize that people from all over the world spend their time for thinking about them. I think and I hope, that this will help - even just a little bit - to stay strong, not to feel alone and to collect new power to build up a life again.
But of course it would be helpful to do more than praying, e.g. donate or whatever. Check this out for more details:
www.redcross.org/ or
www.drk.de/Well, I read many comments by people wondering why there's such a "hype" about Japan and no one cared for Haiti and people who are suffering each day because of their hopeless situation.
Maybe this is, because Japan is so much bigger than Haiti, has so much more influence and well, just because the catastrophe seems bigger.
But that's definetly no excuse! So many people in Africa and many other places in the world fight for their survival each day, out of poor life conditions, crime or natural desasters. Should we forget them? No, of course not!
So I had an idea for a project I'm going to start right now:
World helps the world! This is the name I think I'll use for it (if you have better ideas, tell me!
)
What is it? I will start a group to collect art for all the suffering people in the world. I think about the categories "natural desasters", "poorness", "personal stories", etc. (please tell me, whenever you have ideas! I need your help) Later I think about publishing it in facebook and the web, maybe collecting money or for donations.
But all in all I want to get attention for all the people who aren't as lucky as we are.Please tell me, what you think about. I would be happy about every kind of support!Yours,
Jessy
